Dear Beloved Ones,
The call is going forth upon the Earth more urgently now, to separate from those forces that would create conflict, division, enmity, and the alienation of one from another, and to join with those forces of light and love that promote unity, collaboration, and respect for the Divine core within each human being. Each of us is being asked to come into focus now, to clarify our purpose for being here and to act in accordance with that purpose. One may turn away from this call. One may pay attention to the distractions of life of which there are a great many, but always, that is at one’s own expense.
In this time of increased violence within this country, and in this time of the projection of fear and endangerment onto others who are deemed to be different from us and threatening to our own security, we are being asked to embrace all, irrespective of their background, skin color, religion, point of origin, or economic viability. We are being asked to embrace their humanity, to respect their humanity and the heart within them that beats to the same human-Divine rhythm that our own heart beats to.
We cannot afford not to do this. We cannot afford to believe that our capacity to love is so weak and so limited that we can only love people who look like us or who carry the outer signs with which we can most easily identify. We must recognize the vastness of our love that is capable of extending to those whose outer means and outer life is very different from our own, yet who deserve the same respect that we accord to ourselves. Among this group are those many, many millions who are homeless, dispossessed, limited in mind or in body, fearful, and yes, even those who are angry and unwilling to love us in return. We are being asked to extend the vastness of our love to even those.
Our smaller self may shrink from such a task. It may feel that forgiveness of certain individuals or groups is not within the realm of possibility. It may feel that its own worries take up all the available space and energy within our own heart. Our larger self, connected with our soul, does not think like this. It does not say “I need more for myself and so it is alright that there be less for you.” Our larger self wishes to accord all beings equal respect for their needs. It is not possessive, but generous. It is not withholding, but giving. It is not frightened, but trusting. Our larger self lives in the Divine and with the Divine imperative coursing through its spiritual blood. This imperative says: “love thy neighbor as thyself.” It says: “love all creatures, for they are all children of the One.”
From this imperative, we can extend our caring as far as it might go, both within our personal life and within our collective life. We can let go of our separateness and choose to embrace the love that seeks to embrace us. This is Divine Love, the love of and from the One that lives within each of our hearts at the deepest level. May this love come forth now to dispel all that seeks to diminish love, and in its place may it mount the banner that is emblematic of a nation that is not only dedicated to freedom but to unity as well. This banner is “e pluribus Unum.” Out of many, One. It is the goal of every heart that has taken embodiment at this time, no matter what its outer persuasion. May that heart rise within us now, embracing the love that can become the foundation of our life together on Earth.
