"…What is God asking of me in this moment?"

"...To wait with God is an altogether different thing than waiting alone. It is to trust the meaningfulness in the delayed arrival of what we wish for. It is to trust Divine timing and the strength and commitment of one's own heart to endure. It is to hold the choice to wait as a sacred choice - one that involves surrender of the ego, the Will, and sometimes of what may seem like an easier or more attractive path to follow in order to follow the dictates of one's own soul.

This faithfulness lies at the heart of waiting with God. It is based on the desire to unify one's Will with Divine Will and one's heart with the divine Heart. Thus, though the experience of waiting may be painful to the embodied self which exists within time and suffers the absence of what it waits for, the soul or spiritual self feels glad to be fully aligned with Divine Being and purpose. It feels the richness of this surrender and the joy of doing what the deepest self knows to be right according to an inner standard.

What is needed in addition to trust and patience during a time of waiting is the support of others who are also in process with the goals that they are moving toward but have not yet arrived at. Whoever has a destination that they are aiming toward that they have not yet arrived at is waiting - some with more active movement than others, some with less; some with greater difficulty than others, some more painlessly. Neverless, each one who masters the time of waiting in trust does so on a foundation of hope, believing that those who seek shall find, and those who wait shall receive what they long for. This is the Divine premise that comforts the soul who waits with God, and in the presence of others who are also somewhere along the path of their individual journey, it enables the embodied self to wait longer, with greater confidence in a hopeful and promising future."

HOPE, HOPELESSNESS, AND THE POWER OF LOVE

It is often believed that despair is the opposite of hope, and this is, for the most part true. But even truer is the understanding that hope's opposite is the absence of love. For where love is present, even to a small degree, there also hope can blossom. And while it may not be felt as an emotion in any given moment, the bonds of love create a joining at a level beyond feeling which can uplift the one in sorrow and allow them to feel that it is possible to go on, with no other reason for doing so than life itself.

The loss of hope can be produced by any number of circumstances that are painful and that seem endless and without relief of a substantial kind. In the presence of great pain and difficulty for which relief is sought, longed for, prayed for, and for which no assistance seems possible, the loss of hope is understandable, even natural according to the repertoire of what human beings ordinarily experience within embodied life. This response to pain is part of the human experience and it is only transcending the human experience through the power of love, that makes it possible to continue on in the presence of such severe circumstances.

The embodied self may be experiencing great loss, depression, helplessness, and a desire to give up. At the same time, another part of the self – invisible, silent, yet strongly present in the background – may insist that the self not give up, that there is a reason to continue on. This inner strength and knowing comes from the level of the soul or higher self. It is a part of the self that is connected to love and to the roots of love which prompt it to always affirm the value of life and the meaning of every experience within life, whether or not the conscious self can perceive such meaning.

Where the soul can transmit the sense of its own love for God, for others, or for the earth to the embodied self, then the self that is suffering and feeling hopeless may continue to do so, but may also feel that it is possible to endure a little longer, to manage just a little longer, because love creates its own motivation and gives importance to life, even when life itself doesn't seem to give itself importance.

The Stabilization of Love

Dear Beloved Ones,

We are in a time, today, collectively and personally, when we are being called to the inner work of stabilizing love. This calling is louder and more urgent than any other at this time. It announces itself as an emotional imperative in the presence of forces of anger, fear, despair, and hopelessness that abound all around us and often within us, that have achieved great momentum. These forces lead to a downward spiral in our emotional equilibrium, and once moving along this spiral, make it harder to see the way back to love and to trust in love.

No matter what external circumstances we may face now or in the future, we must begin within our own hearts to remove whatever power we have given to the emotions of fear, anger, and hopelessness, and must take back our freedom to choose the consciousness that we would hold, so that love and the determination to remain faithful to love becomes our primary focus, no matter what is going on around us. This is easy to do when we are surrounded by others who are loving and optimistic, and much more difficult to do when we feel that the pathway toward the stabilization of love must be created by ourselves alone, or with only one or two others.

Now In this time it is crucial that we consciously and deliberately claim our freedom to choose what we feel, and if this seems too difficult or impossible, then at least to choose to continually and deliberately point ourselves in the direction of love, and to make it the choice of our waking days.

"...Many souls have experienced a sense of aloneness over lifetimes due to the energies of separation that have actively influenced consciousness, as well as to the nature of physical embodiment which creates, through the structure of the brain, the experience of things being separate from each other. The inner knowing that all is held in God reverses this isolation. It allows the outer self to join with the inner, to know and feel that no matter what the difficulty, one’s inner being is safe and secure as are those belonging to one’s loved ones.

The problem in locating such a spiritual anchorpoint lies in the willingness to seek a deeper understanding of events than the one that appears on the surface. This is often difficult to do for the embodied self because the body, which contains both mental activity and emotions, can experience pain of such intensity that it feels that only the pain is real, rather than that only God is real. The translation of awareness from the outer perspective to the inner, with a priority being given to the inner reality, can dispel the exclusive hold of physical reality on one’s awareness, even when painful situations arise. It can relocate the center of consciousness to a deeper place within the self where hope remains and where trust in the unfolding future remains.

This is the challenge of the present time, and it involves the willingness to recognize oneself first and foremost as a soul created by God, and secondly, the ability to hold that recognition as most true, even when painful circumstances surround the outer self.

Holding the reality of oneself as a soul, it is possible, even in the presence of difficulty, to feel held by the spiritual matrix in which the soul lives – the air and breath that God infuses into every aspect of life, including the physical. This capacity to partake of the divine Breath makes of even painful situations something else. It allows them to become bearable. It allows the outer self to feel supported by the larger context which consciousness holds.

The illusion of external reality is that it is all there is. The role of spiritual anchoring is to dispel this illusion and to create the awareness that God is all there is, even in the presence of pain, even in the presence of difficulty."
